We would like to introduce our energetic & enthusiastic staff.
Co-owners
Rich Harris: Rich started Bandanna Running in 1994 and is our claim to fame. His running past includes a sub-four-minute mile, a running career with Nike’s Athletics West club, and a recent induction into the Colorado State University Hall of Fame. That being said, Rich always ready to share his enthusiasm and experience in the running business with you! Daily lunch runs with his wife are one of Rich’s favorite past times. Rich also finds great joy in: his kids, jazz, yellow bandannas, and his brother’s Cold Case episodes.
Gregg Mizuta: An alum of Vale High and Boise State, Gregg joined Bandanna 10 years ago. Farming, fire fighting, and banking are just a few things Gregg dabbled in before Bandanna. When he is not in the store, you can find Gregg at many of the local races taking photos. Gregg stays active by running and biking to and from work whenever he gets a chance. Always ready for a hearty laugh, Gregg gets a kick out of: your running stories, baseball, photography, and being able to wear shorts to work everyday.
Staff
Andrija Barker-McCurry: Andrija has been with Bandanna for four fantastic years. Though an Oregon native, she joyfully claims Idaho as home. As of late December she is a happy graduate, receiving her Master’s degree in Health Science/Promotion. She divides her time between Bandanna, assistant coaching at the College of Idaho, training & racing, and freelance writing. Her favorite and current enchantments include: retro owls, her Weimeraner Drake, bookstores, and planning her January trip to Europe.
Laura Harbert: Laura is our resident walking guru. In November, she completed her first half-marathon in Las Vegas. Her 30 years at Hewlett Packard adds diversity to Bandanna’s staff. Laura was raised in Cambridge, Idaho and has spent most of her years in this glorious state. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Idaho, then obtained her MBA from Boise State University. Laura gets a thrill out of: reading, gift wrapping (she is great at it), good wine, and cheering on the Vandals.
Jayne Saunders: Our newest addition, Jayne joins Bandanna fresh off a summer working in Alaska and a trip to Thailand which included a stopover in Hawaii. She is an Idaho native who excelled in soccer, basketball, and track at Emmett high school. While attending The College of Idaho her running career flourished, qualifying for nationals in both cross country and track. When she is not traveling the world, Jayne jumps for joy over: any and all things Idaho, music (her dad is a local rockstar), and Blimpie sandwiches.
Aaron Olswanger: A weekend warrior for Bandanna, Aaron ran track and cross country for Meridian High and Idaho State University. He completed his graduate studies at University of Redlands where he was also the head cross country coach. In the spring of 2009, Aaron was an assistant track coach at Idaho State University. By day, he is an adviser at Caldwell High. Aaron gets giddy over: BBQ-ing, taste testing wedding cake (for his upcoming July nuptials), coffee, and the L.A. Dodgers.
Kevin Peters: Kevin graduated from the University of Washington, where he ran collegiate cross country and track. Kevin moved to Boise to run for the Greater Boise Running Club and to attend graduate school at Boise State University. He is a volunteer assistant for the cross country and track & field team at Boise State. Kevin gathers “good” karma through: rescuing kittens, following everything UW, making potato pizza with his roommate, and meticulously stapling Bandanna Bandanna covers.
Amy Pollack: Amy joined us with an established background in helping runners, having worked at Charm City Sports and Marathon Sports in Boston during her college days. A couple of her favorite runs have been the Boston and Chicago marathons. Amy is a full-time nursing student, but to our delight she still joins us on weekends to serve you with her expertise. Amy shares her enthusiasm through: riotous laughing, dance parties (she can do a mean robot), her “niece” dog, and talking medical jargon.
Chris Chandler: You may remember Chris from his previous stint at Bandanna, we are happy to have him return. Chris adds multiple skills to our store which benefit YOU! A registered dietitian, he and his wife recently lived in South Africa for 9 months while Chris studied archeological nutrition. He is also our resident artist, and you can see his creativity in our new t-shirt designs. Chris is passionate about: Montana (his home), Vibram five-fingers which he wears for EVERYTHING, and talking about amino acids.
