The Public Works Week 4th Annual 5k & 3k Fun Run/Walk, known as the “Poop Scoot,” will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. The race will start at the 8th Street Park and end at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Entry fee is one can of non-perishable food, all proceeds and food donations will benefit the Meridian Food Bank. At the end of the race there will be interpretive displays from the consulting community, along with refreshments. Participants and others will then be able to tour the Wastewater Treatment Facility and the City’s Class A Reclaimed Water Booster before getting a ride back to the 8th Street Park. The 2012 Life Time Tri Las Vegas, Showdown at Sundown will take the competitors for a swim at Boulder Beach, a bike through the rolling hills of Lakeshore and Northshore Drives before attacking the climb to Boulder City and wrapping up with a brand new run course that finishes amidst the party at Wilbur Square.
The Famous Idaho Potato Marathon is a fun full marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K course along the Boise, Idaho greenbelt. All courses are flat and fast!

Race Description: You can expect to gain 500 vertical feet over a 10K course that circumnavigates part of Eagle bike park. Pick up the orange trail arrows from the Velodrome area. Follow the orange arrows to the South end of the Park near Floating Feather rd. off highway 55.You’ll return to the start via Junkyard trail. This is a challenging course and one that will make you a better runner!

The Pocatello 50+ Mile Trail Run will take the competitors on a very challenging tour of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest outside of Pocatello, Idaho. It should be noted that this is an mountain running event taking place in the spring-time, in Idaho. Translated this means potentially very tough course conditions, and very unpredictable weather as was proven in 2010. Approach this course and the area with respect and come prepared for just about anything. This isn’t your typical 50 mile trail run…
Jeff and Shane were wildland firefighters who lost their life in a forest fire July 2003. This will be the second annual race and will raise funds for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation located in Boise. Jeff was from Salmon, Idaho and Shane was from the Boise area.
The run is a 5K/10K out and back route along the beautiful Salmon River through National Forest. We also host a pint night that evening at Bertram’s Brewery in Salmon. Pint night starts at 5pm that evening. The race starts and ends at a memorial for the boys.

Join us for this run honoring Amy Dunn. Amy was diagnosed with stage IV malignant melanoma in July 2011. After giving it all she had, Amy lost her battle on March 31, 2012. This is our first year celebrating the life and legacy of Amy, an avid runner, Boise State student-athlete, and Boise native, who loved the great outdoors and all that it had to offer.
Our goal is to continue to honor Amy’s life and legacy through the Amy Dunn #14 Endowment Scholarship to benefit other young student-athletes who also value health and fitness. We hope to raise awareness about melanoma and educate people about how to be sun smart while still enjoying an active lifestyle much like Amy did.

Celebrating 29 years of promoting youth fitness, the Saint Alphonsus Capitol Classic Race is open to kids ages 6 to 14, of ALL abilities. The one-mile course starts at the Historic Boise Train Depot and ends at the State Capitol with a Finish Fair in Capitol Park.
Everyone is a winner and receives an Olympic-style medal, T-shirt and complimentary refreshments. Proceeds from the Classic benefit programs for children’s health at Saint Alphonsus.

Experience one of the most scenic and traffic free courses imaginable. The Sun Valley Half Marathon and relay runs primarily along the City of Sun Valley and Wood River paved path system. The course starts and finishes in Sun Valley Village on the spacious grass field in front of the Sun Valley Pavilion.

Ironman 70.3 Boise, taking place in Boise, Idaho is a favorite among first-time Ironman athletes. The swim will be held in Lucky Peak Reservoir and the bike and run course takes athletes along the Boise Greenbelt and finishes in downtown Boise.
The 21st annual Sawtooth Relay will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

Sawtooth Relay is a non-profit corporation benefiting two charities including the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (www.pkdcure.org) and the Idaho Donor Network (www.yesidaho.com).
The Boise course begins and ends in Julia Davis Park, where there is plenty of room for enthusiastic spectators to cheer you from start to finish. The course takes runners and walkers down the popular Boise Greenbelt. Along the way you’ll pass Municipal Park and Warm Springs Golf course, then you’ll continue to Barber Park which is near the halfway point.
After leaving Barber Park runners and walkers will pass through a beautiful East Boise neighborhood and then weave through Bown Crossing, a quaint shopping and restaurant district. Then it’s another pass through an East Boise neighborhood and back to the Greenbelt, which takes you down the home stretch to return to Julia Davis Park and celebrate your accomplishment! For your convenience, restrooms or porta potties will be available near every water station.

Don’t miss Idaho’s first real 100k in the spectacular hills surrounding the historic mining town of Silver City, Idaho. On this tremendously diverse and beautiful course, you will blaze down rugged doubletrack trails through junipers and aspens beginning in Silver City (elev. 6100?) and traverse from a high at Hayden Peak (8400?) to a low near Reynolds Creek (5300?). The Ultimate Urban Challenge 2012 will take place on June 23rd benefitting Make-A-Wish Idaho. It is an exhilarating adventure designed for the most Xtreme athletes or a team of friends just looking to have a great time. This unique bike race challenges the body, mind, and senses in the urban setting of Boise. Following clues, teams of four bike to secret destinations and complete the assigned challenge. After all of the challenges are complete, participants are invited to join the after-party to celebrate their Xtreme success with food, drinks and entertainment.

Meridian Parks and Recreation is now accepting registrations for the 9th Annual Meridian Barn Sour. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., on June 23rd, 2012 in Meridian Settlers Park, which is where the race will end as well. The course incorporates Meridian’s pathways and parks in this fun and challenging run through the City. The post-race award ceremony will include food, drinks, and a raffle with prizes from several local businesses. If you are interested in a dynamic and unforgettable (High School) Cross Country running camp, the Remain Curious High Altitude camp could be for you. The camp is located in Sun Valley, Idaho, and will run from July 4th through July 8th this year (2012). Tracy Harris, Camp Director, believes that passion, persistence and perseverance are all part of a great Cross Country experience. Tracy brings these elements, and a high level of energy and experience to the Remain Curious camp(s). Tracy is a 9 time Idaho State Coach of the year; has had 9 State Championship Teams; NXN rankings in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010; is a former National Class runner; has competed for both Brooks and Reebok USA racing team(s); has coached 50 former athletes who have gone on to the collegiate level and competed Nationally, and had a 2010 top 20 ranked Cross Country Team.
Details: The camp will be held at Camp Sawtooth, which is on the North Fork of the Wood River, eight miles north of Ketchum, Idaho. Runners will be housed in cabins.
